The Beauty of Real Love!

Ah……love, love, love…..love is everywhere! Everyone is “love-struck” when it comes to affairs of the heart, particularly on Valentine’s day! Every year, most of us consciously celebrate this special day to extraordinarily show love and affection to our loved ones, family, friends and even to ourselves in so many ways. The fortunate ones will take extra effort to make the occasion more special and memorable by taking a break to spend a “love holiday”, eating out at a fine dining restaurant, exchanging lavish gifts coupled with flowers and chocolates and other random acts of romance. Others would simply backtrack and … Continue reading The Beauty of Real Love!

The Journey That Started It All: The First Day! (A Continuation)

The flight ended up a breeze as I had a good night’s eye shut, a solid 6 hours in total sleep with no jet-lag feeling! The sound temporary respite helped perk up and restore the glow of my skin—it gave me the refreshed and revitalized feeling that I needed to face the day! Since my roommate was not around when I woke up, it was easy for me to go around checking literally the “ins and outs” of the room, including the unloading of my things( clothes, food, first aid kit, etc. ) from the suitcases to the clothes closet. … Continue reading The Journey That Started It All: The First Day! Living A Holy Life: A Lenten Challenge

In one of my previous CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) classes for middle school kids, I asked them to write down things they would “give up” for God during the season of Lent. Majority of the boys and girls promised the more traditional things such as giving up their ice cream and chocolate cravings, leaving their video games (with the condition that it would be during school days only for the 40-day period) and doing good things for their school and play mates and at home with their parents and siblings, among others. But what particularly struck me about was … Continue reading Living A Holy Life: A Lenten Challenge

Persons Are Gifts….

“Persons are gifts…..they come all wrapped so differently, some so loosely, others so tightly, but wrappings are not the gifts”…., and so the song goes.  A nun taught us this beautiful song in our teens and its simple lyrics struck me more than its melody which is pleasing to the ears as well. I’d like to thank her for this, wherever she’s now. We’ve met interesting people in our lives and we’re just grateful for the opportunity to have encountered them, right? There are some of us who have remained faithful despite the distance and the absence of visibility (if … Continue reading Persons Are Gifts….

The Amazing Joy of Christmas Carols – Tips and Thoughts

Singing Christmas Carols? Has anyone of you experienced this before? As Christmas day is almost upon us, I would like to share with you my nostalgic recollection and happy memories of Christmas carols when I was still small. Some of my siblings, friends and I would go practically from door-to-door of our neighbors singing Christmas carols. After school, we gathered at our house and practiced the songs with so much gusto. Innocent kids as we were, there were instances where we simply couldn’t pronounce the words very well and it was so funny as most of the times, we butchered … Continue reading The Amazing Joy of Christmas Carols – Tips and Thoughts
